2. In short

The app works without an account and without its own servers, and sends no personal data to the developer or to third parties. The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party services. Visiting the website only creates the server logs that are technically necessary (section 11).

A. The app

3. Data on your device

The following data is stored only on your device and never leaves it:

Deleting the app removes this data.

4. Camera and photos

The camera and photos from your library are only used when you scan or import a word list. Text recognition happens entirely on your device. Images are not uploaded and not stored permanently. Access requires your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Imported files

Word lists you import as a file are only read on your device and added to your lessons.

6. Read-aloud

The read-aloud feature uses the voices built into iOS. No words or audio are sent to the developer.

7. Motion sensors

The tilt of the device is only used to steer in the game and is not stored.

8. Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases of Vocab Flyer Pro and redeeming codes are handled entirely by Apple (App Store). The developer receives no payment or account data. Apple’s privacy policy applies.

9. Children

The app is made for school children, so the developer collects no personal data through it. Purchases must be confirmed with Apple and can be restricted there using Screen Time and Family Sharing.

B. The website

10. Scope

This part applies to www.vocabflyer.com and the pages at www.einhauchvonweimar.de/vokabelfighter/. The other pages of einhauchvonweimar.de are covered by their own privacy policy (in German).

11. Visiting the website and server logs

When you visit, your browser sends technically necessary data to the server: IP address, date and time, requested file, amount of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type and operating system. This is used to deliver the website securely and reliably, to detect errors and to prevent abuse.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, which processes the data on our behalf. Logs are only kept as long as needed for operation and security, and are then deleted or anonymised.

12. Automatic language and country detection

The start page chooses the language and the right App Store link based on your browser’s language setting and time zone. This happens only in your browser. This information is not sent to the server or to third parties for this purpose, and it is not stored. No location request is made and the IP address is not evaluated.

13. Saving your language choice

Only if you pick a language in the menu yourself is that language code saved in your browser’s local storage (entry “vf-lang”). It is not transmitted and only serves to show your chosen language on your next visit. This storage is necessary for the function you asked for (Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German TDDDG). You can delete it at any time through your browser’s site data.

14. No cookies, no tracking

The website uses no cookies and no analytics, advertising or tracking services. Fonts, images and videos come from the same server, so no connection is made to Google Fonts or similar providers. The mini game runs only in your browser; answers and points are neither stored nor transmitted.

15. External links

The links to the App Store (Apple) and Instagram (Meta) are plain links. A connection to these providers is only made when you click one. Their privacy policies apply from then on.

16. Contact by email

If you write to us, your details are processed to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. The details are deleted once the request is settled and no statutory retention duties apply.

C. App and website

17. Your rights

Subject to the legal requirements, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You can object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The developer holds no data about you from the app. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony (Germany).

18. Changes

If the app or website changes, this policy is updated beforehand. The version published here applies.
